Pop Smoke – A Witness Claims The Late Rapper Was Kicked By Intruders After Being Shot

More details have recently surfaced about the unfortunate murder of late rapper Pop Smoke. As previously reported, Pop Smoke, born Bashar Jackson, was fatally shot during a home invasion in Los Angeles on February 19, 2020. He was only 20 years old at the time of his death. Corey Walker, 20, is one of the individuals that has been charged with the murder and robbery that took place early that morning. Walker has pleaded not guilty and appeared in court yesterday, Thursday, May 6th, for his preliminary hearing. According to the New York Daily News, LAPD detective Christian Carrasco was the first person to take the stand and provide key details into the case. Det. Carrasco said that the intruders broke into the home thru a window on the second floor when Pop Smoke was in the shower. He also shared that a woman, who was staying with the ‘Dior’ rapper at the time, was held at gunpoint with a firearm to her head. The woman spoke with the police hours after Pop Smoke was shot. She was reportedly told by the intruders,

“Shut the f*ck up. Do you want to die?”

Det. Carrasco continued,

“She heard a struggle coming from the shower area and heard Mr. Jackson screaming. Mr. Jackson ran out of the bathroom and then she heard a loud pop and [heard] Mr. Jackson fall to the ground,”

He added that the witness told the police that Pop Smoke was then kicked.

“Two other individuals began to kick him,”

While still on the witness stand Det. Carrasco shared more of the unnamed woman’s testimony.

“Mr. Jackson gets up and run downstairs. She hears two more pops. She follows Mr. Jackson, sees him on the ground and screams for Michael (Durodola) to call 911.”

The woman reportedly told police she believes the men stole Pop Smoke’s “large gold watch” and other jewelry before leaving the scene.

In addition to that, another LAPD detective testified that the license plate of the vehicle caught on surveillance video taking the other suspects to the scene traced back to Walker. According to the New York Daily News, Pop Smoke’s mom, Audrey Jackson, was in the courtroom during the detective’s testimony and she seemed visibly upset once learning her son was kicked after being shot.

Walker is the only adult involved in the case after a judge determined the three other suspects were minors at the time of the incident. If convicted he could face the death penalty. The juvenile suspects have reportedly been charged with murder and robbery as well.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and loved ones of Pop Smoke.
