Nene Leakes Originally Thought Porsha Williams’ Fiancé Simon Guobadia Was Dating Porsha’s Mom + Says Porsha & Falynn ‘Were Probably Never Friends’

RHOA star Nene Leakes received backlash this week from fans after appearing to support Porsha Williams‘ engagement after it was reported she is now marrying the ex-husband of castmate Falynn Guobadia. After Porsha Williams publicly announced her engagement to Simon Guobadia, Nene Leakes first congratulated her.

She later backtracked after getting more details on who Porsha Williams is engaged to.

Nene Leakes sat down with Sheen Magazine to clarify her messages and clear up any misconceptions fans have regarding her support for Porsha Williams’ relationship.

“I saw Dennis and this man in a picture, right. I didn’t pay it much attention. When she said she found love a day later, I thought she was finding love with Dennis. You know who I really thought he was? I thought he was Diane’s [Porsha’s mother’s] boyfriend.” 

As the story of Porsha’s engagement unfolded, viewers were appalled that Porsha would marry an ex-husband of an alleged friend she brought on the show.

Nene Leakes shed light on the inner workings of how people are cast on RHOA.

“Believe they probably are not really friends. They probably aren’t friends and probably were never friends, and that’s probably the truth. Now, I’m just gonna have to second that because everything on the show appears to be something that it’s truly not. 

She continued:

“Everybody on the show came through me, just about. Cynthia came through me, Yovanna came through me, Tanya came through me, Porsha came through me, I knew none of them when they stepped their foot on this show, but that’s how they presented it to the world. Now we did become friends, some of us, on and off the show, but I never seen them a day in my life. I can believe they were never friends, ever.”

Nene Leakes said this about her friendship with Porsha:

“I can still support Porsha. I don’t have to fall out with Porsha because she’s done whatever it is she’s done. As a friend, you can always tell a friend when they’re wrong. I have not had a conversation with Porsha personally to say you’re right or wrong or how can I support you. I’m certainly not gonna fall out with her because she’s dating somebody. Why would you stop being friends with them…You may look at them side-eye, you may not want them around your dude. I mean, now you know so there are boundaries now, but you don’t stop being friends with them.”
