J.Cole’s Manager Says Confrontation Between Rapper & Diddy Was ‘Never A Real Issue’
J.Cole’s Manager Says Confrontation Between J.Cole and Diddy Was ‘Never A Real Issue’
J.Cole‘s manager Ibrahim ‘IB’ Hamad, is now giving a detailed account of the run-in that took place between J. Cole and Diddy eight years ago at the MTV Music Awards after-party.
It was previously reported that J. Cole took to his latest album The Off-Season, and spoke on the incident in the song ‘Let Go My Hand.’
“My last scrap was with Puff Daddy, who would’ve thought it? I bought that ni**a album in seventh grade and played it so much you would’ve thought my favorite rapper was Puff. Back then I didn’t know sh*t, now I know too much.”
On the podcast ‘Say Less,’ J.Cole’s manager Ibrahim ‘IB’ Hamad, recalled details from the ‘scuffle’ at the after-party.
“The Puff story…I remember hearing it and just laughing ’cause I was there….it’s definitely not what people are saying.”
According to rumors, Diddy allegedly became annoyed with J.Cole for dancing too close to Cassie, Diddy’s then girlfriend. Other rumors allege J.Cole intercepted a drink that was going to be thrown on rapper Kendrick Lamar after Diddy learned that Kendrick Lamar referenced himself as the ‘King of New York’ on the song ‘Control.’
Ibrahim ‘IB’ Hamad explained:
“It was definitely not like he defended Kendrick or something. It isn’t like, don’t talk to Kendrick like that! Kendrick was there, TDE was there, Jay was there, Beyoncé was there, me and Cole. You know, grown men….got a little heated. All I remember is, me and Jay looking at each other like, ‘Oh these ni**as bout to fight.’ And then just being like, ‘Oh no, this is ’bout to happen.’ I’ll just leave it at that.”
At the time of the incident, all parties refuted the fight rumors.
Hamad said J.Cole and Diddy met the day after the incident and squashed the tension between them. According to Hamad, they “chopped it up,” and “it was never a real issue.”
