Get your calendars out, because Atlanta’s Freaknik festival is returning with a three-day event this October!
The festival first started in 1983 at Atlanta University Center, and it returned annually until 1999. After a 20-year hiatus, the festival returned back in 2019 with a star-studded lineup that included Trina, Da Brat, and Foxy Brown.
After its initial revival, Too $hort and Jermaine Dupri sought to continue the festival in September, 2020–despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, however, Freaknik is set to return as a three-day event. The event will take place at Morris Brown College from October 8th-10th. Some of the larger names on the 2021 lineup include artists like Ray J, Lil Scrappy, Field Mob, and Adina Howard.
The tickets will be available beginning Monday (June 21st) at 9 a.m. EST. It is currently unclear how much the Freaknik tickets will be. However, on the festival’s official website, they note:
“In 2021 we have cut prices in half, added bigger artists, and expanded to three days.”
They also point out the festival will be produced by “Native ATLiens” who seek to promote the culture of Atlanta.
It is also worth noting that Freaknik will be available for viewing via a streaming website known as Omnis Player–so music lovers can still get to experience the festival from the comfort of their own homes!
