Kevin Hart Reacts To Backlash Over Cancel Culture Comments: Stop Believing These Headlines

Update #2 (June 16th): Kevin Hart isn’t taking the criticism he received over his cancel culture remarks lightly. He posted a series of tweets yesterday (June 15th) in response.

He started with,

“I got time today….The “He’s not funny” slander is the best….this is for you. I have 3 stand up comedy specials that fall in the top 10 highest grossing comedy specials of all time….2 of my specials are in the top 3 of all time.”

He spoke on his box office success, adding:

“I have been the highest grossing comedian in entertainment for years now….I have also been the highest grossing comedian in the box office with over 4 billion in earnings ….”

He continued,

“I have also turned my comedic talent into a place of business and branding and radio and other revenue streams….The hate/slander fuels me to do more. You guys are what makes this business fun….because it’s not about getting to the top….it’s about doing your best to stay on top after you get there.

He then addressed his critics and wrote,

“I rarely talk s***….but I felt the need to today. Stop believing these headlines and read the actual articles…. you guys fall for the banana in the tail pipe trick every d*** time.”

He ended with,

“J Cole said it best “If ur laughing at a millionaire the jokes on YOU” …..Now back to ur regularly scheduled program. Live love and laugh!!!!”

See his tweets below (from bottom to top).

Original Story (June 14th): Kevin Hart has had his own battles with cancel culture throughout his career so far, however, the well-known comedian recently shared that he is unbothered by public criticism. As previously reported, Kevin Hart stepped down from hosting the 2019 Oscars after a few of his old controversial tweets resurfaced. The entertainer later shared that he was given an ultimatum by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to either apologize or they’d find a new host. After he stepped down from his hosting duties the Oscars continued on that year without a host for the first time since 1989. During a recent interview, Kevin Hart shared his opinions on cancel culture and revealed that he doesn’t ‘give a sh*t’ about the concept. He said,

“If somebody has done something truly damaging then, absolutely, a consequence should be attached. But when you just talk about… nonsense? When you’re talking, ‘Someone said! They need to be taken [down]!’ Shut the f*ck up! What are you talking about?”

He continued and said that a person shouldn’t be expected to be perfect throughout their entire lifespan.

“When did we get to a point where life was supposed to be perfect? Where people were supposed to operate perfectly all the time? I don’t understand. I don’t expect perfection from my kids. I don’t expect it from my wife, friends, employees. Because, last I checked, the only way you grow up is from f*cking up. I don’t know a kid who hasn’t f*cked up or done some dumb sh*t.”

During his interview, the ‘Central Intelligence’ actor added that cancel culture makes it hard for comedians to do their jobs.

“You’re thinking that things you say will come back and bite you on the a**. I can’t be the comic today that I was when I got into this.”

He added,

“We forgot comedians are going for the laugh.”

“You’re not saying something to make people angry. That’s not why I’m on stage. I’m trying to make you laugh and if I did not make you laugh I failed. That’s my consequence.”

When speaking on people pulling up his old tweets Kevin Hart said,

“There is nothing I can do. You’re looking at a younger version of myself. A comedian trying to be funny and, at that attempt, failing. Apologies were made. I understand now how it comes off. I look back and cringe. So it’s growth. It’s about growth.”
