Michael Costello Says He Was ‘Blindsided’ By Leona Lewis’ Claims As He Apologizes + Singer Responds
Michael Costello has apologized to singer Leona Lewis after she called him out for bullying her earlier this week.
The exchange all started when TV personality and model Chrissy Teigen issued a public apology for cyberbullying others in the past. See that here.
Michael Costello then blasted Chrissy Teigen, stating that she bullied him so badly in the past that he wanted to take his own life.

Interestingly enough, it wasn’t long before Michael Costello faced bullying claims himself. “Bleeding Love” singer Leona Lewis took to Instagram to share an encounter she had with the fashion designer in 2014.

Now, he has apologized to her in a lengthy message on his Instagram stories. He started by saying he messaged her privately but she didn’t respond. He added,
“I was really surprised to hear about your traumatic experience with me from the Go Red Women Charity Event in 2014. I flew to New York just to fit you, and we had a wonderful time at the fitting…”
He continued and said Leona Lewis told him she loved the dresses so much that she was going to shout him out on social media. He also said her team has contacted him multiple times to pull looks for the singer, one instance as recent as last month.
He added,
“I don’t take accusations of body shaming lightly as I have [built] a career as celebrating diverse women of all shapes and sizes. But if I did unintentionally hurt you, and you did continue to support me, I want to apologize to you directly.”
He continued,
This caught me by surprise. I am completely blindsided, as you have always looked fabulous in my gowns, and I thought you truly loved them.”
He went on to say he hopes her intentions of coming forward are “pure” “and that you’re not acting recklessly”, noting that he has lost tons of opportunities. He ended by saying he hopes to have a “heart-to-heart” talk. See his full message below.

Leona Lewis replied shortly after and appeared to accept his apology.
