Could a stranger’s mistake result in a crossover between Insecure and Power?
Yesterday evening (Sunday, July 4th), Issa Rae revealed she was mistaken by a stranger for Naturi Naughton. Issa Rae tweeted:
“Man got out of his car to ask if I was in POWER. Apologies in advance to Naturi, because I’m running with this.”

Shortly after Issa Rae‘s tweet, Naturi Naughton retweeted her. Additionally, she reposted a picture from theJasmineBRAND‘s Instagram page regarding the matter. On her story, Naturi Naughton wrote:
“[insert laughing emojis] Run with it girl @issarae. I love me some @insecurehbo. Let’s do an episode! #IssaMeetsTasha @power_starz.

As we can see, Issa Rae initially poked fun at the matter, and Naturi Naughton ran with it–even suggesting a crossover between Starz’s Power and HBO’s Insecure!
Naturi Naughton starred in Power as a character named Tasha St. Patrick, who is the wife of the series’ main protagonist. She appeared in all six seasons of the series, which aired its final episode back in February 2020.
For her part, Issa Rae produced and starred in HBO’s Insecure–playing the role of Issa Dee, who is one of the show’s two protagonists. The series is currently gearing up for its fifth and final season.
