Lil Baby Wants ‘More Children To Continue The Legacy’ + Talks ‘Carrying’ Himself ‘Differently’ After Realizing He’s A Role Model
From revealing he wants more children to realizing he’s a role model, Lil Baby didn’t hold back in a recent interview.
The proud father of two sons (Loyal, 2, and Jason, 5) told Billboard he hopes to have more children in the future.
“Everything I’m doing is really for my kids. I want more kids than I got because once you get older, you start to look at life differently. Where I come from, I’m the only one, so I have to build the generation up and keep the family going. I need more children to continue the legacy.”
His legacy is already gaining traction thanks to his song The Bigger Picture – a response to the tragic killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The single garnered a Grammy nod for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
George Floyd’s younger brother Philonise Floyd saluted Lil Baby’s single and said,
“To make that song about social justice, and even talk about what happened to George, was phenomenal. I thank [Baby] a lot for that, because he let a lot of other people understand that, ‘I might be from the streets, but I understand what’s going on in this world.'”
Lil Baby added,
“My life feels like a responsibility. I’m not even trying to be no role model, honestly. [But] now that I know that I am, I try to carry myself differently, because I got people watching. I don’t even be doing what I really want to do. I do what I gotta do now.”
He had his own experience with police when he was arrested for having marijuana during Paris Fashion Week last month. He said,
“The whole Paris experience let me know I got to get bigger overseas. Not saying to not go to jail for breaking the law, but for the police to know who I am.”
