Now, another Louisiana rapper is chiming in on the situation: Big Freedia! Recently, the paparazzi spotted Big Freedia (real name Freddie Ross Jr.) at LAX and asked the “N.O. Bounce” artist for her take on the situation. Surprisingly, Big Freedia–a gay man who uses she/her pronouns–ultimately sided with Boosie and defended him against the homophobia accusations. Big Freedia initially stated:
“Lil Nas X and Lil Boosie, they keep trolling each other… You gon’ have homophobic people, and us as the gay community have to keep pushin’. We can’t let everything and everybody bother us with their words. We have been fighting forever, and we gotta continue to be tough.”

She then said:
“I don’t think Boosie is homophobic. I think he just has a problem with Lil Nas. Boosie’s new movie ‘My Struggle’ has lots of gay folks in there. He has a whole gay scene in jail where he has like a lot of the gay guys from Louisiana representin’.”

Big Freedia then explained:
“[Boosie] was upset. When people get upset, they’ll say whatever’s on their mind and on their heart. But they keep trolling each other. It’s wasted energy–they going back and forth. [Boosie] definitely has respect for the gay community–he got a problem with Lil Nas! That’s their bulls**t.”
She then gave some suggestions about how the pair can resolve their problems:
“They should [jump on a track together]. Go sit down and have dinner and talk about it.”
Boosie hasn’t publicly acknowledged Big Freedia‘s comments.
