Joel Osteen – Money & Checks Were Found In The Wall Of His Church Years After Burglary
Joel Osteen is making headlines again but this time its for a theft that took place years ago at his megachurch.
Back in 2014 news broke about Lakewood Church for an alleged burglary in which someone reportedly stole $600,000.
The case was never solved but police might have gotten a big break that could help them to get one step closer.
On the morning show “Morning Bullpen” host George Lindsey listened to callers talk about day-to-day topics. One caller however, took things to the next level. A plumber called in to talk about how he found some money in the church after doing some work there. “There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,” the caller said. “We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like ‘Oh wow!’”
The plumber said that the envelops contained cash and checks in them.
“I went ahead and contacted the maintenance supervisor that was there, and I turned it all in”.
A representative from Lakewood Church acknowledged cash and checks were found at the facility during repairs. In 2014, Crime Stoppers of Houston offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
While it is not clear if this helps or not, one thing they did let us know was that given the time of the case, Crime Stoppers of Houston said the statute of limitations has expired and the plumber who made the discovery will not receive any reward money.
Joel Osteen is still dealing with some legal issues which stem from him receiving a PPP loan in the amount of $4 million dollars from the Federal Government last year during the pandemic. The megachurch Pastor originally denied that he had taken out the loans however, the church decided to voluntarily pay back the money it received amid widespread criticism.
Is the church responsible for paying the plumber a finder’s fee? Let us know in the comments.
