YG Will Not Be Charged in 2020 Robbery Case Due To Lack Of Evidence
Good news for YG! The Los Angeles rapper is officially off the hook and will not be charged for a 2020 robbery case. According to court documents, YG,(real name Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson) is in the clear after the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against him citing their was not enough evidence to directly link him to the crime. The D.A.’s Office wrote in court documents,
“Not enough evidence of what defendant did to aid and abet the crime. Presence during the crime alone is not sufficient.”
YG’s attorney, Joe Tacopino, was pleased with the decision and described the verdict as a “Christmas gift” for his client. Tacopina initially said he would get his client out of this mess and it looks like he delivered! Reportedly, he spoke with sources telling them he discussed the case in-depth with the D.A.’s Office, who saw YG’s side of things. According to Tacopina, the police allegedly have a grudge against YG, 31, which would show some type of negative bias in the case.
As previously reported, the Compton rapper was arrested in January 2020 after police raided his San Fernando Valley home at 4 a.m with a search warrant related to a robbery case. He was taken to Men’s Central Jail in L.A., where his bail was set at $250,000. Some found the timing of the arrest to be suspicious since it happened the same weekend YG was set to perform at the Grammy’s to honor late rapper, Nipsey Hussle.
Despite YG’s robbery case being dismissed, many are still side eyeing the Compton rapper and suspect he could be involved in an even more serious crime. As previously reported, West Coast rapper Drakeo the Ruler was murdered on Saturday (Dec. 18th) at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. music festival. In the wake of this untimely tragedy, YG has been accused of being involved in Drakeo the Ruler‘s murder.
According to Drakeo‘s mother, the fatal incident went down shortly after YG and a crew of “40 to 60” people appeared backstage. Shortly after the “POWER” rapper’s posse showed up, Drakeo was ultimately “swamped” and stabbed in the neck.
The investigation into Drakeo the Ruler‘s death is still ongoing.
