Michael Jordan & Scottie Pippen May Never Speak Again After Fall Out From ‘The Last Dance’ Documentary: ‘It’s Over’
It looks like Michael Jordan, 58 and Scottie Pippen, 56, aren’t on the best of terms. The iconic NBA duo who won six championship rings together in the 90s may never speak again, according to Knicks legend Charles Oakley, 58. During a recent appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast”, Oakley was asked if the relationship between MJ and Pippen could ever be fixed. Oakley replied,
“No, I think it’s over…It wasn’t great from the get-go.”
Reportedly, Charles Oakley is still close friends with Jordan after they played together for three seasons on the Chicago Bulls. Oakley, who was traded to the NY Knicks in 1988, also played alongside Pippen for a season.
“I think he [Pippen] feels like they didn’t present him more in the Last Dance. I think they did Dennis Rodman more than Scottie and Steve Kerr.”

He continued,
“But my thing to that is, Kerr did way more off the court than Scottie. Dennis probably has, too. But on that court, Scottie did a lot more than both of them, but Scottie felt like he was left out of there. And he felt like Jordan wouldn’t have six rings if it wasn’t for him.”
Scottie Pippen has been far from shy about his disdain for “The Last Dance” doc. As previously reported, Scottie Pippen allegedly felt the docuseries made him look “underpaid and frustrated” and he reportedly wasn’t happy about it. In a previous interview, Pippen shared that he wasn’t the biggest fan of The Last Dance and that he didn’t think the docuseries accurately portrayed what happened during the time he and Michael Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls in the 90s. He said,
“I don’t think it was that accurate in terms of really defining what was accomplished in one of the greatest eras of basketball, but also by two of the greatest players – and one could even put that aside and say the greatest team of all time. I didn’t think those things stood out in the documentary.”

He added,
“I thought it was more about Michael trying to uplift himself and to be glorified [the series was co-produced by Jordan’s Jump 23 company]. I think it also backfired to some degree in that people got a chance to see what kind of personality Michael had.”
“The Last Dance” was a 10-part docu series that chronicled the Chicago Bulls in the 90s. It showed never-before-seen footage of what went down behind the scenes of Michael Jordan’s last year playing in Chicago. The doc also shows how Pippen decided to wait to have surgery on his ankle at the start of the 1997-98 season, which Michael Jordan called “selfish.” Pippen then held the team back saying he wouldn’t return unless the Bulls trade him (which didn’t happen).
In an interview in the documentary Pippen says:
“It’s one of those incidents where I wish it never happened. But if I had a chance to do it over again I probably wouldn’t change it.”
