Former ‘Basketball Wives’ Star Royce Reed Pleads Not Guilty In Child Neglect Case
It looks like Royce Reed will be fighting the criminal charges filed against her!
According to Radar Online, the ex ‘Basketball Wives’ star entered a plea of not guilty! As previously reported, Royce Reed turned herself into police on Thursday (Mar.10) in Orange County, Fla. and was charged with neglect of a child, which is a third-degree felony. The case involves her 14-year-old son Braylon, whom she shares with NBA star Dwight Howard, 36.
According to court documents, Braylon was instructed by a judge to no longer hang around children that were two years younger than him without an adult present due to inappropriate behavior displayed in the past. Braylon is accused of breaking the judge’s rules and it appears Royce is taking on the responsibility.
Along with her ‘not guilty’ plea, Royce Reed’s lawyer Andrea Black filed a demand for discovery. Reportedly, she wants a list of all people known to the prosecutor who have information about the charge, any written statements including oral statements made by a co-defendant, “portions of the recorded Grand Jury Minutes that contain testimony of the accused,” and if any documents have been seized without her knowledge.
In addition, she is also demanding to be informed of all witnesses that the prosecutors plan on using and any notes/photos from the investigation.
On Friday (Mar.11) Royce Reed took to Instagram to clarify some things including her mugshot. She made sure to clarify that she was not arrested but instead, turned herself in. She wrote,
“I shouldn’t even have to deal with or address this. I did not get arrested. I turned myself in because I had to. Talk to my attorney…. As for the picture… I was scared as s**t and was crying like a baby the whole time… I’m not ’bout that life’ but I did it and we’re gonna get through this.”
Dwight Howard has yet to speak out on the matter.
