Monday, March 21, was the first day of Ketanji Brown Jackson‘s confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. As previously reported, President Joe Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the high court in February.
If confirmed by the Senate, KBJ will be the first Black woman to serve on the high court. She will also be the court’s second-youngest justice and the first since Thurgood Marshall to have experience as a defense attorney.

KBJ met her husband, Patrick Jackson in college, launching the start of their now 25-year marriage. The couple shares two daughters, Leila and Talia Jackson.
The Supreme Court nominee referenced her husband during her first remarks on Monday. She said,
I have no doubt that, without him by my side from the very beginning of this incredible professional journey, none of this would have been possible.

The confirmation hearings will reportedly go on for four days.
