‘Real Housewives Of New York City’ Reboot With New Cast & A Spinoff With Former Members In The Works
The Real Housewives of New York City is coming back, but not the way you think.
On March 23, Andy Cohen confirmed that Bravo would likely recast the show in addition to creating a spinoff that would focus on former members.
“You know that we’re at a crossroads for RHONY,” he said in an interview. “We’ve spent a lot of time figuring out where to go. And the plan that we’ve come up with, I think, is a real gift to the fans.”
He continued:
“There are thousands of stories to tell here. This is the most multicultural, diverse and energetic and exciting city in America. We are searching for a multicultural group of friends who really best reflect the most exciting city in the country. We’re looking for a group of women who are real friends and who are of diverse backgrounds, races, and religions.”
The latest season of RHONY featured Luann de Lesseps, Leah McSweeney, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Eboni K. Williams. The show lasted for 13 seasons before being placed on hiatus in 2021 amid alleged low ratings and an investigation into Eboni K. Williams‘ claims that Ramona Singer had made a racist comment in a conversation.
“Cast and members of the production were interviewed, but the investigation was closed after nothing substantial was found,” an insider said later.
It’s unclear who might return for the spinoff, but Andy Cohen said he had ideas “in mind.” When asked, he did not rule out members of the latest cast and also left the door open for Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin to return.
