Oprah Winfrey Reveals She Didn’t Leave Her Home For 322 Days Out Of Fear Of Contracting COVID-19

It’s safe to say, Oprah Winfrey wasn’t playing around when it came to Covid!

While it’s been two years since the world was on lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many still recall the difficulty faced with being locked in their homes with no certainty of when things would return back to normal. One person who was taking no chances when it came to the Rona was iconic talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, 68. During a recent interview, Oprah revealed she didn’t leave her home for 322 days due to her fear of catching COVID-19.

Oprah begins by sharing she was thankful to not have lost any loved ones due to Covid-19 and that her friends make fun of her for going to great lengths to not catch the disease.

“I haven’t lost anybody in my family so I’ve been very fortunate. My dealing with it comes from hearing of other friends, and other people who have experienced it. My empathy and understanding of what that must be like to go through that is how I have been relating.”

She continued,

“I’ve been so careful with myself that my own friends make fun of me. I didn’t leave home for 322 days — literally did not leave the house. So it has not been for me personally a heavy burden to bear.”

The television producer/author says it wasn’t until later in 2021 that she started to get sick of being on her extended lockdown.

“It was only the latter part of 2021 that it started to wear on me like, “OK, had enough of this.” But I still was feeling for all the people who were losing people and also people who couldn’t get appointments that they needed for just regular illnesses or checkups, because the hospitals are filled.”

As previously reported, Oprah Winfrey went to great lengths to ensure that everyone that she was in contact with during the holidays stayed COVID free. Oprah previously shared that everyone that stayed with her for Christmas

“has to be vaccinated, boosted, tested, and quarantined.”

She took to social media to let her fans know she was not playing about Covid and had strict rules in place! Oprah wrote,

“Everyone who is spending Christmas at my house has to be vaccinated, boosted, tested, and quarantined. Stedman calls it “The Policy” cause I’m that serious about it. This was release day for our bubble and we knew we had to throw a welcome celebration for Baby Luca, who none of us had met yet! We missed his grandma @gayleking but she’ll join us once she completes the policy! Thank you to @bonfortunestyle and @anasballooncreations for helping bring the fun to Baby Luca’s first time at my house. Have a happy and safe holiday, everyone.”

In 2020 during the height of the global pandemic, Oprah Winfrey had her best friend Gayle King quarantine for 13 days in her guest house before being welcomed by Winfrey in her main home. The long-time best friends shared the exciting moment on social media.

“After 13 and a half days quarantined in my guest house, @gayleking and her @cbsthismorning team released from Covid quarantine.”
