DJ Akademiks Responds To Backlash Over Resurfaced Audio Saying It’s Okay To Have Sex W/ Minors As Long As They ‘Got A College ID’
DJ Akademiks faces major backlash from comments he made almost a decade ago.
In 2013, DJ Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, made comments about seeing no difference between having sex with an underage girl as opposed to having sex with a woman who is of age to give consent. In the 27-second clip, DJ Akademiks talks about following his own code, which is as long as the woman has a college ID he doesn’t care what her age is.
In the resurfaced audio, Akademiks, who was reportedly 20-years-old at the time the questionable comments were made, says:
“And to keep it real if you think about it in the bigger scheme of things, there’s not much difference between a 20 or a 17 or a 21 and a 17.”
Akademiks explains:
“Just kinda means one’s a minor and one’s not a minor. But listen, I will say I adopted this rule which I think is fine, I said listen, ‘as long as a chick got a college ID she’s getting f*cked.’ I don’t care if she 17, I don’t care if she 17 and a half, I don’t care if she just turned 17, she gon’ get this d*ck.”

On Tuesday (June 14) the audio appeared online once again, which caused social media users to call out Akademiks, including artists like Jay Critch:

The following day, Wednesday (June 15), Akademiks, 31, defended himself on his Twitch streaming podcast. He clarified that his comments stemmed from speaking about a then 24-year-old Tyga dating Kylie Jenner who was 17 at the time.
Akademiks says:
“What I was trying to say is that, either you’re 21 or 20, right? And someone’s like, 17, this is only the college dynamic, right? Because they put four years of kids together, just like they do in high school. I said, usually, there’s not much of a difference, like, when you’re in college, you don’t really see the difference and I still believe that.”
Akademiks continues:
“At no point did I ever say that I f*cked some under 17 or under 18. I was I was giving y’all an example I said in college, I said 17 in college becomes a grey area because people don’t ask for IDs.”
Akademiks adds:
“So colleges or high school where the ages are a little bit outside of what is actually acceptable… when people go to college, people do not check ID…no one says ‘hey how old are you’ they’re usually under the assumption that the people they are dating or dealing with is of age.”
Akademiks repeats:
“As long as they go to your school, bro, you do not ask. It’s not that you want anybody underage, you just assume. So, that’s what I’m sayin’—if it ends up being that, it’s like, yeah that’s not what you wanted to do type of sh*t, but it’s like, I don’t look at it as in a somebody deliberately looking for kids.”
