Nicki Minaj Says A Store Cashier Told Her They Like Her ‘Old School Music’ While Mistaking Her For Trina

Is Trina Nicki Minaj’s doppelganger?

During a recent store run, Nicki Minaj was mistaken for fellow rapper Trina.

Nicki Minaj uploaded a video (Aug 3) to her TikTok account detailing the mistaken identity incident. The 39-year-old rapper was on her way home from a meeting when she asked her driver to make a stop at a store. She said she looked exactly how she did in the video, clad in dark shades, a black shirt, and long honey blonde hair with bangs.

Nicki explained:

“Y’all, I just came back from this meeting, right? And because, like, on my way home, I’m like, you know, I asked the driver to drop me off at this store.”

Nicki said she picked up a few things and made her way to the cashier. That’s when the person behind the register started looking at her as if he recognized her but didn’t want to bring too much attention to the “Anaconda” star.

She said:

“The man at the register, he start looking at me like, you know, he didn’t want to kind of like, blow my cover, ’cause there’s other people waiting right behind me in the store. So, I lean in ’cause it’s clear that he’s trying to tell me something and I don’t want him to talk too loud. So, he goes—and he was so serious but so excited, so I’m like, ‘Of course, global icon superstar.’ I’m thinking in my head, it’s okay.”

However, this is where things seemingly went left and the cashier told Nicki how much he loved her music, especially a song with another well-known rapper.

She continued:

“He leans in, and with all seriousness, he said, ‘I been listening to you all day. That old school music is my favorite.'”

Minaj said he then clarified what he meant and said,

“So, I was like irked, he was like ‘that one with you and Trick Daddy.’”

The cashier was seemingly referring to a song with Trina on it, a Miami-born rapper who often works with rapper Trick Daddy.

Both female rappers have made their marks in the music industry with their lyricism, sexiness, and style, but have very distinctive looks on and off stage.
