Normani Says ‘Just Shut The F*ck Up’ While Addressing Critics Who Believe She’s No Longer Motivated To Make Music

Normani has something to say to all her haters!

The ‘motivation’ singer gave a pointed response to Twitter users on Tuesday (Aug. 9 ) who believe she is no longer passionate about her music career.

The tweet that initiated Normani’s sharp response said,

“No idea where Normani’s motivation (no pun intended) has gone but I just don’t see the same passion from her as I used to.”

A second user replied to the first user’s tweet and wrote,

“Before yall start, it’s not depression so don’t even go THERE! What happens when you’ve gotten comfortable and you’re not HUNGRY anymore.”

Normani, infuriated by the comments, jumped into the conversation and simply replied,

 “Just shut the f*ck up.”

Popular British fashion illustrator, Hayden Williams, came to Normani’s defense and stated,

“It’s so interesting that people that have no clue what it’s like to be in the music industry & the complexities that can come with that, but will dish out unwanted & rude opinions all the time smh.”

Normani, went on to retweet Hayden Williams’ post, adding,

“On top of real life sh*t going on in my personal life.”

Normani has been candid about the struggles she faced since the break-up of her former girl group Fifth Harmony. When speaking about those hurdles she’s previously said,

“So many sessions, I would cry like I’ve never cried before.”

Adding that she feels a “responsibility” to succeed as a Black woman as she moves forward in her solo career.

The ‘Wild Side’ singer has yet to share a release date for her highly anticipated debut album, and fans are showing their frustration. In the responses to the tweet that started it all, music lovers had a mixed response. Some agreed with the original tweet and others were sticking up for their fav.

Despite not having shared a release date for her album, Normani has released multiple songs. Her debut solo single “Motivation” was released in 2019, followed by “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B in 2021, and “Fair” in March of this year. In an interview with Ciara in December of 2021, the singer promised that the album was “almost done.”

This is not the first time this year Normani has faced criticism. As previously reported, Normani faced backlash after starring in the Chris Brown music video for his song ‘WE (Warm Embrace).’ After the video was released, critics took to Twitter to express their disappointment in Normani for working with Chris Brown. As you may recall Chris Brown has a controversial past, including a highly publicized domestic violence dispute with his then-girlfriend Rihanna
