Stephen A. Smith Reveals He Wanted Will Smith To Play Him In A Biopic Before Oscars Slap: You Just Don’t Do Something Like That
Sports personality Stephen A. Smith had the idea of Will Smith portraying him if his upcoming memoir is ever adapted into a biopic, but apparently, he has since changed his mind.
Stephen A. Smith’s book, “Straight Shooter: A Memoir of Second Chances and First Takes,” is set for release on January 17, 2023. Reportedly, the memoir will give readers insight into his childhood, his relationship with his father, and the trials and tribulations he’s experienced as a sports journalist.

The ESPN sports commentator is currently in the midst of promoting the book and made a recent appearance on Charlamagne Tha God’s Comedy Central show “Hell Of A Week.”
During the interview, Stephen A. Smith chatted about who he wants to play him in a potential biopic and revealed he believes Will Smith could pull off the role. However, Stephen has ultimately changed his mind following the famed actor’s infamous Oscars incident. The 55-year-old sports analyst said,
“D**mit, it would’ve been Will Smith before the slap. But I can’t go with him now. I can’t go with him.”

When show host Charlemagne Tha God suggested the “King Richard” actor would make a comeback after the public controversy and cancellation, Stephen said,
“Listen, listen; he’s Will Smith. We know he’s going to be back. We got love for him, but you just don’t do something like that. And Stephen A. wouldn’t do something like that.”
As you may recall, Will Smith walked onstage at the 2022 Oscars and slapped host Chris Rock after he made a bald joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who shaved her head because she has alopecia.

The Oscar-winning actor has since been making a slow return to Hollywood after losing several movie and endorsement deals and being banned from attending any Academy Award ceremonies for the next 10 years.
