Dave Chappelle’s Attacker Sentenced To 270 Days In Jail Following No Contest Plea
Dave Chappelle’s attacker will be spending almost nine months behind bars.
According to reports, Isaiah Lee, the man who attacked Dave Chappelle mid-performance earlier this year, will be spending 270 days in jail. Isaiah Lee pleaded no contest and will be placed in county jail in connection to rushing the stage back in May at the Hollywood Bowl where he attacked Dave Chappelle.
The Los Angeles Police Department later announced Chappelle’s attacker had been detained and claimed at one point Lee “produced what was later discovered to be a replica handgun,” which he allegedly aimed at the comedian. The replica gun reportedly contained a hidden knife blade.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office handed the misdemeanor assault case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Back in May, the D.A.’s office shared that Lee had been charged with attempted murder in connection with a different incident for allegedly stabbing his roommate in December of last year. George Gascón, the District Attorney, said at the time:
“The publicity generated by the attack on Mr. Chappelle helped police solve this crime.”
