Ice Cube Explains The Difficulties Of Producing More ‘Friday’ Films Without Securing Rights From Warner Bros.: You Can’t Call It Saturday Without Craig & Day-Day
Multi-talented entertainer Ice Cube is keeping the fight alive.
The “Friday” creator and star spoke on his hopes of attaining the rights to his popular movie franchise, which is currently owned by Warner Bros.

During a recent interview, Ice Cube, real name O’Shea Jackson, 53, was asked about his ongoing battle with the production company. After an interviewer questioned the potential of rebranding the film under another name, Cube reportedly stated:
“You got to use the same IP…So, you can’t call it ‘Saturday’ without using Craig and Day Day.”
As previously reported, the”Barbershop” star also spoke about his standoff with Warner Bros. on Mike Tyson’s “Hotboxin” podcast. Cube explained the company is currently at a standstill regarding if they’ll produce the series fourth installment “Last Friday.” The most recent installment from the series, “Friday After Next,” was released in 2002.

Speaking to the boxing Champ, Cube stated:
“I don’t know. Warner Brothers is weird right now. I don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t know what they’re doing…I think it’s gonna be close to a time when we can get it back. So we’ll either wait for that time, or we’ll keep trying to convince them that they need to let us control the movie. It’s my movie, but they have distribution control.”
Adding:
“I ain’t putting sh*t up for it…They need to give it to me…I’m not [going] to pay for my own stuff, that’s stupid.”
While the entertainer made it clear he has no plans to front the money to purchase the rights, he stated in his most recent interview he has no intentions to sue Warner Bros. either. Instead, Cube doubled down on his beliefs the famed production company should “do the right thing.”
