Keyshia Cole Responds To Critic Claiming She’s ‘Degrading’ Her Late Mother w/ Upcoming Biopic: I Wanted The Best For My Mom
Keyshia Cole isn’t going to let anyone keep her from sharing her truth!
As theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported, singer/songwriter Keyshia Cole, 41, is working on a Lifetime biopic about her career and personal life. Actress Debbie Morgan, 66, is set to portray Keyshia Cole’s biological mother Frankie Lons in the forthcoming film. Frankie Lons passed away in July 2021 from a reported accidental drug overdose.

While Cole awaits the release of her biopic, some critics have taken to the internet to share a few harsh opinions about the project. Over the weekend one Twitter user alluded that the “Love” singer is using her mother’s death as an “opportunity” for financial gain.
The Twitter user wrote:
“I said it! As soon as @KeyshiaCole momma died she was going to used that opportunity as she always does and make it work for her. Now she is making a movie about Frankie she always degrading them for her benefit.”
However, Cole shut down the crazy allegation and shared that, despite how some may feel, her truth is her truth.
“Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom. You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine.”

Cole’s response to the Twitter user may not be too surprising. The entertainer has always been candid about the love she shared for her biological mother. As you may already know, Cole’s last name was changed at the age of two after she was adopted by family friends due to her mother’s battle with addiction.
Following Frankie Lons’ death, Cole took to Instagram to share some kind words about her mother. She wrote:
“This is so hard man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! but you will be missed. It’s crazy because… For weeks I’ve been quoting you, from the goose that laid the golden egg, to calling Neffe shoes slow burners, cause they were bought scuffed up already ? your humor was unmatched!!! Naturally so funny, that’s what I loved about your personality…. we all did. I created this post to show my love and appreciation for your life and I would like to thank my fans + supporters, shooot your supporters and fans, for being here with us during these hard times, and the love that you all have for us…..the love for all your children was definitely felt. When u said all you want is to have ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN IN ONE PLACE, AT ONE TIME meant the most to you, And I’m completely down to do that for you. Even through our differences …. WE LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Frank da bank!”
