Takeoff – Woman Injured In Shooting That Took Rapper’s Life Tearfully Speaks Out For The First Time: I’m Grateful To Be Here
One of the victims injured in the shooting that killed rapper Takeoff is sharing her story.
24-year-old Sydney Leday shared she was out celebrating her birthday with friends when the unimaginable happened.
Recalling the November 1st incident that claimed the life of 28-year-old Migos rapper Takeoff, Sydney Leday’s eyes steadily swelled with tears. The Houston resident stated during her first interview since the shooting:
“Like any other 24-year-old, I was just out partying and celebrating,”
She continued,
“I really never dress up for Halloween, and that was something I was excited about,”
Leday went on to share that her time living in Los Angles made her accustomed to hanging around celebs, so running into the “Culture” artists wasn’t a jaw-dropping moment. However, the young woman was stunned when she witnessed Quavo getting visibly upset over a dice game. As previously reported, the game referenced ultimately led to an individual firing off rounds of gunshots in the Bowling Alley, killing Takeoff.
“That’s when I knew something was wrong,”
After a fight broke out, Leday said she and several others began to run outside of 810 Billiards when the triggerman opened fire. Shortly after, Leday stated she fell to the ground with a stinging sensation in the back of her head. Thankfully, Leday made it to an escalator and to her friend’s car who quickly drove her to a nearby hospital. Leday added that she was fully aware of the extent of her injuries due to the stinging, and quickly called her mother after the shooting. She stated:
“I remember what happened because I was up the whole time after I got shot in the head and I called my mom and told her what happened and told her to come [to the hospital],”
“I was in the hospital for about a week. I didn’t really want to be there,”
Leday is reportedly still healing from the mental scars the shooting left her. The young woman recalled having panic attacks and losing her appetite upon returning home. In the end, however, she is thankful to be alive. She continued:
“I really just can say I’m grateful to be here,”
To date Takeoff, born Kirshnick Ball, has been celebrated and laid to rest. The suspected murderer Patrick Xavier Clark is currently awaiting trial for the rap star’s death.
