21 Savage Says ‘I Don’t Feel Like We’ll Ever Recover’ While Speaking On Takeoff’s Murder & Young Thug’s YSL RICO Trial
The effects of Takeoff’s death and Young Thug’s incarceration are still being felt in their home state.
Fellow Atlanta rapper 21 Savage recently opened up about the aftermath of Takeoff being shot and killed last year, as well as Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO case.

During an interview with journalist Jordan Rose, 21 Savage, real name Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, 30, stated:
“You can feel a lot of energy missing…Atlanta just ain’t the same, honestly. That sh*t be really driving me crazy. I feel like we took a lot of big *ss losses last year…I don’t feel like we’ll ever recover from that sh*t, if I’m being honest.”

He continued:
“Especially with Takeoff. I feel like we’re just in a dark place right now in Atlanta, as far as our energy. Going outside ain’t the same, clubs ain’t the same, you just feel it.”
As sadly reported back in November of last year, rap star Takeoff, 1/3 of Atlanta-based rap group Migos, was murdered outside of a bowling alley in Houston, TX. Celebs and fans around the world mourned the musician’s death, including fellow band and family members Quavo and Offset. Takeoff was laid to rest at 28 with a home-going ceremony at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. As it stands, the rapper’s suspected killer, Patric Xavier Clarke, has been arrested and is awaiting trial.

Additionally, early last year Atlanta-based rapper Young Thug, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, 31, was arrested on several felony racketeering charges. Atlanta Rapper Gunna, born Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, 29, was detained as well along with more than 20 YSL associates. The “Best Friend” rapper stands accused of running an organized gang and committing a number of crimes. Gunna was released earlier this month, while Thug remains behind bars after having his bail attempts denied.
Savage continued on in the interview, explaining how the current loss of these two figures has left irreparable damage in the city. He stated:
“I feel like certain people, when you lose them or they’re not physically able to be present, certain people just aren’t replaceable.”
The “Bank Account” rapper also shared that he will be releasing new music soon.
