Colin Kaepernick’s Game-Worn, Signed Playoff Jersey Hits Auction, Expected To Sell For $40K
Colin Kaepernick is the latest athlete to see his old threads hit the auction for a pretty penny.
According to reports, Colin Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers jersey will be up for grabs soon. The signed jersey, which was worn in the NFC Divisional Round game back in the 2012 season, is being sold by Heritage Auctions and is expected to go for around $40,000. During the game, Colin Kaepernick reportedly threw for 263 yards, rushed for 181 yards, and accounted for four touchdowns. His team ultimately came out victorious over the Green Bay Packers, with a 45-31 win.
In addition to his John Hancock, Kaepernick also wrote his stats from the game on the jersey.

As you may already know, in 2016 Kaepernick made headlines for refusing to stand for the national anthem prior to football games as a peaceful protest against racial injustice and police brutality in the country. At the end of that season, the quarterback became a free agent and remained unsigned. In 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL and its owners, accusing them of conspiring to keep him out of the league. However, in 2019, he withdrew the grievance after reaching a confidential settlement with the NFL.
Kaepernick isn’t the only sports star to have their former gear hit the market for 5 or more figures. As previously reported, earlier this month news broke that the late Kobe Bryant’s game-worn jersey was expected to earn $7 million while being auctioned off.

In December reports claimed that LeBron James’ 2013 Finals Game 7 Jersey was expected to sell for over $3 Million.

Bidding on Kaepernick’s jersey is set to start today (Jan. 30) and will conclude on Feb. 25.
