Prince Harry & Meghan Markle To Be Deposed In Half-Sister’s $75k Defamation Lawsuit Over Oprah Winfrey Tell-All Interview

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle To Be Deposed In Half-Sister’s $75k Defamation Lawsuit Over Oprah Winfrey Tell-All Interview
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will reportedly be taking the stand soon.
According to reports, a Florida judge ordered the Duke, 38, and Duchess of Sussex, 41, to sit for dispositions after Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, sued the couple for defamation for their 2021 tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
As you may recall, Meghan Markle, alongside her husband, sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss the trauma she faced due to the British press and the unfortunate way she was allegedly treated by the royal family. In the interview, Meghan was candid about the betrayal she felt after discovering her father, who has never met her husband or two children, allegedly played a role in working with the press to wrongfully attack her.
Meghan also revealed to Oprah Winfrey that her relationship with her half-sister Samantha Markle is non-existent as she shared her thoughts on her estranged sibling’s book “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1,” which was reportedly written about Meghan.

During the viral interview, Meghan said:
“I think it would be very hard to tell-all when you don’t know me. This is a very different situation than my dad, right, when you talk about betrayal? Betrayal comes from someone you have a relationship with.”
Meghan then claimed Samantha changed her last name back to Markle only after news broke that the “Suits” star was dating Prince Harry.
According to reports, under the judge’s order, Prince Harry and his wife will be forced to answer questions based on their public statements.
Samantha Markle is requesting $75k in damages and is claiming the pair “made disparaging remarks” to Winfrey that subjected her to harassment and “humiliation.”
Meghan attempted to stop the depositions with a request to the judge that she doesn’t have to sit for interviews with her half-sister’s lawyers, reports claim. However, her request was denied.
Reportedly, Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell stated on the request:
“Defendant Markle does not show that unusual circumstances justify the requested stay, or that prejudice or an undue burden will result if the Court does not impose a stay.”
It’s important to note that despite not stopping the depositions, Judge Honeywell gave a heads-up that the case may be “ripe for dismissal.” She added:
“Although a preliminary peek at the motion to dismiss suggests that some of the claims against her may be ripe for dismissal, the review does not reveal, at this time, a clear indication that the Court will dismiss the action in its entirety.”
