Nicki Minaj Scores Back-To-Back Number One Debuts On Hot Rap Songs Chart w/ New Single ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze’
It looks like Nicki Minaj is back on top of the charts!
Nicki Minaj has found herself at the top of the charts with her new hit single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” According to Billboard, the new release gives the rapper back-to-back number-one debuts on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
The song is a sample that features elements of Lumidee’s 2003 hit song “Never Leave You (Uh Oh),” the debut single off her first album “Almost Famous.”
“Red Ruby Da Sleeze” saw sales of about 41,000 in the first week, which is the most any hip-hop song has reportedly scored this year.
This song, released on March 3, is a back-to-back No. 1 debut for her since her last hit, “Super Freaky Girl.” “Super Freaky Girl,” which samples Rick James’s 1981 hit song “Super Freak,” dropped last August and quickly became Minaj’s third U.S. number one.
It ultimately topped the Hot Rap Songs chart for 11 weeks in 2022. It also made music history with Nicki Minaj becoming the first solo female rapper with a No. 1 Hot 100 debut since the 1997 release of Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
The “Feeling Myself” artist has been busy since her February return to social media following a three-month hiatus. After surprising her Barbz with the new single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” the 40-year-old rapper announced on Queen Radio that she now has her own record label. She has yet to disclose the name of the label but she did reveal that she has signed some artists already — Nana Fofie, London Hill Tate Kobang, and Rico Danna. She said,
“When I get behind an artist, y’all know how I do sh*t for people that’s not even signed to me. Imagine what Imma do for the ones that’s signed.”

She then gave her fans an idea of what type of music they can expect to come from the label.
“Don’t think my label is just rap, or Black, or anything. We got some other genres of music.”
