Kanye West – Jewish Organizations Reject Rapper’s Apology Claiming Actor Jonah Hill’s Performance In ’21 Jump street’ Made Him ‘Like Jewish People Again’
It looks like Jewish Organizations aren’t impressed by Kanye “Ye” West’s latest Instagram post.
Kanye West recently took to social media to pay tribute to actor Jonah Hill for his portrayal in the film 21 Jump Street, saying it made him “like Jewish people again.”
Ye wrote:
“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again. No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”
Jewish organizations such as StopAntisemitism and the American Jewish Committee denounced Kanye West’s apology. Both groups told sources they need to see much more than a simple social media post from the rapper to believe he’s sincere about his new feelings towards the Jewish community.
Liora Rez, executive director of StopAntisemitism had this to say about Kanye West’s questionable post:
“Joking about a movie with Jonah Hill is not the apology that the Jewish people deserve from Kanye, particularly when his antisemitic tirades continue to have a dangerous trickle-down effect of hatred against Jews.”
As you may recall, throughout last year the “Donda” rapper made headlines for the numerous antisemitic rants he gave on social media and during interviews. He even threatened to go “death con 3” on the Jewish community. In a since-removed tweet, he said,
“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
Liora Rez and her StopAntisemitism group previously labeled Ye the “Antisemite Of The Year.” Shortly after, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) revealed that his remarks were linked to 30 antisemitic incidents in the U.S.
However, Rez said Kanye West can still be forgiven by displaying changed behavior as well as publicly denouncing white nationalist Nick Fuentes.
The American Jewish Committee Spokesperson Richard Hirschhaut also spoke on Kanye’s post and said,
“It is a little odd that all it might take for Kanye to renounce his vile antisemitism is to watch and 11-year-old Jonah hill movie. Whether Kanye is sincere, only he knows.”
While the AJC says Kanye still has a lot of apologizing to do, they are willing to meet with him if he’s ready to do the right thing and make amends.
The Jewish organization told sources they want him to,
“take a serious and detailed look at his constant doubling down on antisemitism over these past several months and renounce each of these repeated, threatening and vile expressions of antisemitism. Then and only then could we contemplate a fresh conversation.”
