Respect is often earned not given.

It seems hip-hop icon Jay Z, however, won the admiration and respect of fellow rhymer Jim Jones after handling a potentially explosive situation with graceful conversation.

According to reports, Jim Jones, 46, was discussing the time when Sean ‘Jay Z‘ Carter, 53, was still very active in the New York. Speaking of the Baseline Studios, Jones reportedly stated:

“We were right in Harlem so we ain’t have to cross no bridges or nothing to get there…It was literally a seven-minute ride to get down there. We used to come in there all the time.”

He continued:

“Me piling in there with like 20 Bloods with me. [Jay-Z] looking at me like I’m crazy. One day I came in there with so many Bloods, Jay was like, ‘Come here, come here, come here.’ Like he was my uncle.”

While Jay Z could arguably have been well within his rights to respond to the situation aggressively, Jim Jones said the very opposite thing happened. He continued, alleging that the 4:44 artist simply wanted a conversation with the men, stating:

“[He said] I’m not worried about all the Bloods you bring here…I don’t care about none of that. But when you bring the gangsters in here, make sure the gangsters holler at me before anything else ’cause this is my house.”

Reportedly, Jones was a frequent visitor of Baseline Studios at the time. The location formerly housed the Jay Z founded recording company Roc-A-Fella Records, and was co-owned by the billionaire. It seems however, the business now no longer exists, closing in 2010 following ownership changes. The two musicians seemingly remain friends to date. Back in 2019, Jones and Killa Kam joined Jay Z onstage for a joint performance.
