Actress Nicole Beharie Was Allegedly Treated ‘Differently’ While Filming FOX Series ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ Says Source
The set of FOX’s “Sleepy Hollow” was allegedly a hostile work environment for its star, actress Nicole Beharie.

In the upcoming Hollywood exposé “Burn It Down,” reporter and author Maureen Ryan, who explores patterns of harassment and bias in the entertainment industry, alleges the set of “Sleepy Hollow” had “grueling” working conditions and confusion among the show’s leadership team.
The series, which wrapped in 2017, starred Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison — who played detective Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane.

According to reports, Maureen Ryan obtained her information after multiple insiders told her that the higher-ups on the show claimed from the beginning that they did not have,
“a good experience with Nicole.”
Allegedly, the people with power over the series shared their (unwarranted) ill feelings toward Nicole Beharie with others who worked on the production, including those who had not had interactions with the actress. Co-star Orlando Jones described the alleged treatment as a “double standard,” while another source believed the 38-year-old entertainer felt alone.
The source continued,
“Especially if that person is a woman and a woman of color — those are two groups that already have challenges to begin with. It created a very us-against-her environment from day one.”

Another source alleged that while Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison showed difficulty adjusting to being the leads of the show, Beharie’s growing pains were treated differently. One source shared,
“I found her to be pleasant, extremely talented, and an actor who was adjusting to being a lead. There are growing pains with that. In the time I was there, where the discrepancy came in was how their growing pains were viewed and handled.”
A source who worked with the FOX series’ first showrunner, Mark Goffman, also claimed that there,
“were times when serious issues were brought not just to Mark, but to the powers that be, so to speak. And they either brushed them aside or they were just not handled.”
