Naomi Osaka & Boyfriend Cordae Welcome First Baby Girl Together!

Congratulations are in order!

According to reports, tennis champion Naomi Osaka is officially a mother after welcoming a baby girl with boyfriend/rapper Cordae.

As we’ve previously reported, Naomi Osaka and Cordae Dunston shared with the world they were expecting a bundle of joy back in January of this year. Already a few months in, the 25-year-old athlete posted a sonogram picture to her social media account, writing:

“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023.”

Now it’s reported that the wait is finally over! Sources close to the couple state that the baby was born in recently, adding that mom and baby are both “doing well”. One report stated that Cordae, 25, revealed that his girlfriend had given birth while reportedly performing in Calgary, exclaiming to the crowd that he’s officially a “proud papa”. The “Two Tens” artist and Osaka shared images from their baby shower back in June of this year, confirming the sex of the then unborn baby would be a girl.

While neither Osaka nor Cordae have commented publicly about the birth of their child at this time, many expect the big reveal to come sooner rather than later. As far as names go, the 4x Grand Slam champion reportedly shared in a previous interview that the couple were still in the process of deciding, but knew they’d be going for something a little less traditional. Osaka reportedly stated:

“We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional,” 

The new parents have also previously shared a few hopes for their newborn. Osaka stated that when it comes to being a new mom, she just wishes to be her best self so that her child will look at her and be proud of who their mother is. Taking a gander at her stellar career as a top tennis player, that seems certain to come to fruition. Despite not being on the court since withdrawing from the French Open and taking a leave on absence for her mental health back in 2021, Osaka promised fans that after giving birth, she planned to be ready for the 2024 Australian Open.

For Cordae, it seems his major concern is that she doesn’t want to follow in his footsteps and pursue a career in music. During a previous episode of Lebron James‘ talk series “The Shop”, the musician expressed his hopes that his child would not want to make music, due to the possibility of failure. He told other guests on the episode he simply would refuse to let the child try musically professionally, unless he “hears a hit”.
