Cardi B Shares Update On Her Natural Hair Journey + Slams Critics For Suggesting Her Latina Genes Are Responsible For Her Hair Length: ‘Where Was The Genetics When I Was In High School?’
Rap star Cardi B has come a long way in her natural hair journey.
The 30-year-old posted an updated picture of her healthy tresses recently, explaining that the road to get to where she is now hasn’t been easy, despite what some critics may think.

In a recent post to Twitter, Cardi B, real name Belcalis Almánzar-Cephus, reminded said critics just how far she’s come since taking her hair care seriously. The musician posted a picture that showed off her current health and length, captioning the post:
“My hair has grown sooooo much!!! Let me know if y’all want a video my my HOMEMADE hair oil… handmade by ME!”

It seems the upload triggered some internet users, as many began to criticize the musician for seemingly downplaying the role genetics has had in her hair length. A couple of users directly condemned Black women especially, suggesting there is a problem with them accepting hair care advice from a women of Latin descent. One user wrote:
“Black Women wanting hair growth tips & oil from her is crazy”

While another added:
“Y’all really don’t see how a LATINA selling “hair growth oil” to BLACK women could be misleading? A bunch of fried eggs”
The latter post prompted a direct response from Cardi, who insisted that she isn’t selling anything at all to her audience. She quote tweeted the post, writing:
“IM NOT EVEN SELLIN ANYTHING YOU DUMBA** B***H…I been showing my hair growth journey to my fans since 2016!”

And sharing her journey is certainly what she has been doing. As we’ve been covering since way back in 2019, Cardi has been committed to repairing her damaged hair and speaking on the matter for quite some time. Over the last few years, the celeb has shared several home remedies and has openly discussed with fans her struggles and progress maintaining her crowns natural state. A few times, the “WAP” artist has even shared tutorials on how to make and apply hair care resources and highlighted the benefits of wearing wigs as a protective style.

In a subsequent Twitter post, Cardi directly addressed her naysayers by sharing images from her childhood and young adult years, seemingly discrediting their point that genetics is the reason for her hair achievements. She wrote alongside the old photo’s:
“This is me as a child.. this is me as a teenager.. this is me in my early 20’s…and NOW. Everyone wants to blame my hair growing on genetics but where was the genetics when I was in school??”

And continued:
“The facts are you need hair products and good care that works for you to maintain it and keep it healthy.. sometimes it’s not even just about growth it’s about keeping it HEALTHY and the growth comes”

Despite the critics, it seems many support Cardi and showed her love in sharing her hair journey. The musician’s fellow rapper Kash Doll also gave her vote of support, asking her fellow artist to give her all the hair care secrets, to which Cardi sweetly obliged plus some.
