Billy Porter Reportedly Banned From Met Gala After Referring To Anna Wintour As A B*tch Over Harry Styles Vogue Cover

Looks like Billy Porter will not be making his annual appearance at the Met Gala next year.

According to a report from RadarOnline, the fashion guru’s invite to the event was “revoked” because he referred to industry icon Anna Wintour as a b*tch.

Billy Porter let loose on Vogue’s editor-in-chief while speaking about the magazine’s controversial December 2020 cover. If you recall, the “Pose” star previously vented about his frustrations after former One Direction singer Harry Styles, 29, appeared on the issue in a dress. Reportedly, his attire was an effort to spark a conversation around gender-fluid fashion.

However, Billy Porter, 53, slammed the decision, claiming that he was “the first” male to “change the world” after famously wearing a tuxedo dress at the 2019 Oscars. Porter also noted that despite rocking a dress before the “As It Was” artist, he was still passed up for the historic cover opportunity.

Though he later apologized for his remarks, Porter doubled down on the problem in a recent interview published earlier this month. Taking a direct shot at Wintour, 73, the singer reportedly revealed he actually had a conversation with the industry legend right before Styles graced the magazine. Wintour allegedly asked his thoughts on how Vogue could help usher in this groundbreaking new era of fashion he was heading. Reflecting on their conversation, Porter reportedly stated in his latest interview:

“That b*tch said to me at the end, ‘How can we do better?’ And I was so taken off guard that I didn’t say what I should have said,”

He added that he should’ve answered:

“Use your power as Vogue to uplift the voices of the leaders of this de-gendering of fashion movement.”

Six months after his talk with Wintour, Porter said Styles was tapped to be the face of gender-fluid fashion. In addition, he claimed the only reason the Grammy Award winner, who has never publicly confirmed his sexuality, landed the cover is because he’s “white and straight.”

He reportedly stated elsewhere in the interview:

“It doesn’t feel good to me. You’re using my community — or your people are using my community — to elevate you. You haven’t had to sacrifice anything,”

Now, it seems Porter’s harsh words for Wintour have cost him his invite to the Met Gala, which Vogue hosts every year. A source familiar with the situation reportedly confirmed the report, stating:

“The repercussions of Porter’s big mouth have been swift and decisive, as his invitation to the all-important Met Gala was revoked and his once-favorable standing with top-tier designers has been shaken,”

Adding:

“While Billy is a sensation on the fashion scene, the designers have rallied behind Anna, a true titan of the industry.”

Neither Porter nor Wintour have publicly addressed the report at this time.
