Tyrese Sheds Tears While Suggesting Charlamagne Tha God Set Him Up For Interview Where DJ Envy Said He Wanted To “Box His Mouth” + Claims Charlamagne Contributes Greatly To His Mental Health Struggles

Singer Tyrese is emotionally reflecting on his latest interview with “The Breakfast Club”.

In a recent live video, the musician shared his opinion that neither DJ Envy nor Charlamagne Tha God have empathy, adding that the later often causes him great mental stress due to his insensitivity.

Wiping tears from his eyes, Tyrese spoke on his appearance on the staple radio show, wishing the hosts well despite their obvious tension. He stated:

“Y’all know that I could make the choice to go at both of them, and I’m not gonna do it. The choice that I’m gonna make is to wish them well in their careers, their marriage, their family, everything. I want the best for them I really do.”

The singer continued, thanking the shows interim 3rd host Jess Hilarious and acknowledging the comedian’s empathy, which he soon after condemns the other hosts for their lack of. Beginning to get emotional, he added:

“I want to say thank you to Jess….I hope they officially add you to the show…you actually had the only heart in the room because, I’m in the middle of expressing my vulnerabilities and all this stuff that I’ve been carrying and festering from certain things that they’ve said, and choices they’ve made, and how they’ve went about being insensitive about my stuff. “

As we covered in the original story, Tyrese sat down with Charlamagne and Envy and opened up the conversation about their quiet long standing beef, seemingly in efforts to offer his perspective. The “Fast & Furious” star expressed his disappointment that Envy had never checked on him while going through his divorce from ex wife Samantha Gibson. Additionally, he says that while Charlamagne did conduct an interview with him during that time at his request, he felt the best selling author didn’t make a genuine effort to see how he was doing emotionally. Instead, he says the two radio hosts just made jokes about his situation on air, damaging his view of them.

According to Tyrese, offenses he may have made against Charlamagne and Envy at the time causing them not to reach out were due to him taking a powerful drug for his mental struggles that caused him to act of out character. It seems he believes the co-hosts should be able to show him grace as he was “literally out of his mind.” Reflecting on how their conversation transpired, Tyrese made it clear in the live he doesn’t think that forgiveness has been shown. Speaking about Charlamagne setting him up and adding stress to his mental health struggles, the entertainer stated:

“I can’t count the amount of times that he’s contributed to the stresses in and around my mental health; from being insensitive or just deciding to talk about a man that he actually knows…the moment that he said ‘I should’ve box you in your mouth’…it took everything in me to stay seated in that seat.”

He continued:

“Charlamagne is clever because he knew…they’ve been going at me for five years and I’ve responded only a few times publicly…they knew that we was gon’ have to have that conversation…you’re this voice, you got books. You’re this champion, this outspoken man that represents all things mental health…I feel like I know y’all enough to have some type of expectation of you guys to just have a heart, and simply be able to say ‘I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to come home to an empty house, no wife, and your child gets taken away from you’…just have a heart…do your job, talk your sh*t I get it, but never lose sight of mental health.”

Tyrese also, with seemingly a bit of resentment, added that he’s forgiven others who turned their back on him like Charlamagne and Envy, wishing them all well. It doesn’t seem radio hosts have responded to Tyrese’s latest comments about them at this time. It’s almost certain, however, they will address the moment on their next episode.
