Britney Spears‘ mother is reportedly struggling to make ends meet.

Lynne Spears — also the mother of Jamie Lynn Spears — is reportedly back to teaching elementary school students part-time, allegedly making around $15 an hour to help pay her bills. She previously worked as a teacher and operated a daycare in Kentwood, Louisiana, before Britney Spears‘ rise to fame in the early 2000s.

A source said,

“She is struggling to pay her bills, but she has already substituted for several classes at [a local school].”

Lynne lives in a $2 million mansion Britney Spears had built for her in 2001. Her alleged money struggles come amid an ongoing rift with Britney, who has an estimated net worth of $60 million. Jamie Lynn Spears is reportedly worth $6 million.

According to reports, Lynne filed for Chapter 7 – liquidation bankruptcy – in 1998. She has owned five companies in the past 20 years, including Britney Online, Inc. and One More Time Music, Inc., but is no longer involved with any of them. She also sold Britney’s childhood home for $275,000 in 2021.

Britney has accused her mother of doing very little to help her escape the 13-year conservatorship she was put into in 2008, which her father, Jamie Spears, oversaw.

Soon after the conservatorship was lifted, Lynne reportedly asked to have Britney pay her $660,000 legal fees, inflicting further damage to their already strained relationship.

Court records show that Lynne petitioned the court in November 2021 to have her daughter’s estate foot the legal bill for her conservatorship lawyers, whom she claimed she hired to “save her daughter” from her father’s incredibly abusive acts.

Britney‘s attorney Mathew Rosengart opposed the motion in court in April 2022, arguing that “there is no legal authority supporting” Lynne‘s allegations that she should receive money from her daughter’s estate.

Rosengart further alleged that Britney spent approximately $1.7 million on her mother over the years. Reportedly, the “Toxic” singer once covered all of her mother’s bills, including utilities, telephone, property taxes, house repairs, and maintenance.

Lynne reportedly withdrew her $660,000 claim, allegedly in a last-minute effort to repair her and her daughter’s relationship. However, Britney is said to have since ceased communication with her family as she deals with her divorce from Sam Asghari.

“This was the final nail in the coffin for Lynne. She could not fight with Britney anymore and she knew that asking her to pay her half-million dollar lawyer bill was not right, considering what Britney had been through. Not only that, but Lynne was really trying to repair her relationship with Britney. Taking more money from her was not the way to do it.”
