Skip Bayless Questions If Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes Are ‘Black America’s Team,’ Public Reacts: ‘Ratings Must Be Low’
Sports commentator Skip Bayless is currently under fire after asking a controversial question online about coach Deion Sanders and his collegiate football team.
Prior to Tuesday’s (Sept. 26) segment of Fox Sports’ debate show “Undisputed,” Skip Bayless, 71, took to Twitter to pose a question to his fans surrounding Deion Sanders, 56, and the Colorado Buffaloes. As you may already know, the former NFL player took over as head coach for the football team at the University of Colorado Boulder in December 2022. Since then, the university’s football program has been a well-talked-about topic in the media.

In a tweet shared from his official Twitter account, Skip Bayless wrote,
“Is Deion’s Colorado now Black America’s Team? Now on @undisputed”

Reports claim that Skip’s tweet was in reference to how popular the team has become following Deion Sanders‘ takeover. For the program’s third game against Colorado State, many big-named stars appeared in person to cheer the Buffaloes on, including Offset, Lil Wayne, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Master P.
During the conversation on “Undisputed,” Skip’s co-host, Richard Sherman, shared his sentiments on the influence that Deion Sanders’ football team has had so far this year. He said,
“I think you said there was 14 Black head coaches in all of major college football, which is ridiculous and hopefully that changes. But, he’s [Deion Sanders] spearheading that change.”
Richard Sherman continued,
“But yeah, the Black community is getting behind [Deion Sanders] because he speaks for the culture. You see how Deion speaks. He is unapologetically himself all the time. Regardless of how much criticized, regardless of how much judged. His team is the same way. They’re unapologetically confident. They should be.”

He added,
“They lost this game this week. That didn’t deter anything. That didn’t deter people from continuing to support Deion, continuing to be excited for what he is doing, and what he could possibly do in the future.”
