Rich Paul Says His New Memoir Addressing His Childhood Trauma Was ‘A Difficult Read’ For Rumored Fiancée Adele: ‘It Was Very Emotional’

Singer/songwriter Adele was deeply moved by Rich Paul’s traumatic childhood stories in his upcoming memoir.

In a new interview published yesterday (Oct. 8), Rich Paul opened up about his partner Adele’s “very emotional” reaction while reading his new book “Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds.” In his memoir, the famed sports agent detailed growing up with a mother who struggled with drug addiction and explained how she often wouldn’t return home. While growing up in a “crime-ridden” part of Cleveland, Ohio in the ’80s and ’90s, Rich Paul recalled the issues he faced while not having his mother around.

He said,

“I had built up this wall as a young kid to just have the understanding to move forward and know that she’s not going to be there. Like, Mom is not coming home.”

The founder of Klutch Sports Group added that his upbringing,

“was one of the toughest things for me to relive and write about.”

In addition, Paul shared he would sometimes have to dodge gunshots between his neighbors or run for safety after winning a dice game. He admitted,

“The thing about it is, I was never really a kid.”

While speaking on Adele’s response to “Lucky Me,” Paul revealed that his childhood trauma “probably hit home” for the Grammy Award-winning singer. According to reports, Adele’s father disappeared from her life for years. He then came back around once she became famous in her 20s. Paul shared,

“It was very emotional. I think a lot of it probably hit home, so yeah, it was a difficult read [for her].”

The memoir reportedly covers Paul’s challenging journey and how he made his way to become one of the most powerful agents in sports. “Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds” is set to release on Tuesday, October 10.

It’s reported that Adele, 35, and Paul, 41, have been in a relationship for over two years. Paul first went public with their relationship when they attended the NBA Finals together. After dating for a year, the pair reportedly moved into their $58 million Beverly Hills home together. As you may know, Paul is the sports agent for many popular athletes, including LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Ben Simmons.

Earlier this year, the high-profile couple was rumored to have been engaged. As previously reported, rumors began swirling after the British singer was spotted wearing a massive diamond ring on her wedding finger at one of her Las Vegas shows.

On top of that, the “Rolling in the Deep” artist paid tribute to Paul by dedicating a song to him at her Vegas residency last year. Adele sang “Happy Birthday” to her now-rumored fiancé during her set. The London native exclaimed,

“And I love him more than life itself, so can we wish him happy birthday? His name’s Rich!”
