Kourtney Kardashian Reveals How ‘Terrifying’ It Was Learning She Needed Emergency Fetal Surgery + Says Being Able To Afford What Insurance Doesn’t Cover Saved Her Unborn Baby
Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian is opening up about her recent pregnancy scare.
Nearly a month after undergoing emergency surgery to keep her unborn baby alive, the 47-year-old is speaking out about the heart-wrenching situation.
Reportedly, Kourtney Kardashian shared about the experience during a recent cover interview. Explaining how fearful she was learning her coming baby’s life was in danger, she reportedly stated:
“That experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of pregnancy that I didn’t know about in the past…It was terrifying. “
“After, I learned that insurance typically only covers two ultrasounds when you’re pregnant, I had no idea. I’ve always been lucky enough to do more than what insurance covers, and it’s one of those ultrasounds that saved my baby’s life.”
It seems Kardashian caught the medical situation early enough, only due to the fact that she scheduled more ultrasounds than normal because of her geriatric pregnancy. The term describes any woman carrying a child past the age of 35. Presently, the socialite shares sons Reign, 8, and Mason, 13, and daughter Penelope, 11, with her ex Scott Disick. The former couple split back in 2015, and Kardashian married Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in May of last year.
For his part, Barker is the biological father of two children, daughter Alabama Luella, 17, and son Landon, 19, as well as father to stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 24, all three he shares with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler. Kardashian’s current pregnancy will bring the first baby the married couple share together. Elsewhere in the interview, Kourtney gushed about being a mom to a newborn again and also touched on how the emergency fetal surgery helped her to be more calm about being an older mother. She stated:
“I love experiencing life through their eyes and doing with them all the things I did as a child. Going to Disneyland or even just touching sand for the first time… love creating traditions and memories and making everyday things feel special and magical. Being able to do that now with Travis is a dream come true.”
Adding:
“Right after the surgery, I reached the point where I let myself go and I stopped worrying. Now I talk to the baby every day, have a positive mindset, keep my head straight, and say a lot of prayers…I feel really lucky and grateful. I have a lot of gratitude. Not that I didn’t have it before, but perhaps since it came easy to me, I took the pregnancy for granted.”
