Chris Tucker Reaches Settlement w/ IRS Over Tax Debt, Agrees To Pay $3.6 Million Of The Reported $9.8 Million Owed
Actor Chris Tucker is finally moving on from his battle with the IRS.
According to reports, the “Rush Hour” star has reached an agreement with the tax collection officials to pay off a portion of his alleged unpaid debt.

As we covered back in 2021, Chris Tucker, 52, was sued by the government entity for failing to make accurate tax payments on his money earned. The suit claimed the actor either “refused” or “failed” to pay in full his taxes owed for the years 2002, 2006, 2008, and 2010. Notably, a couple of those years align with the release of his “Rush Hour 2” and “Rush Hour” 3 films, which dropped in 2001 and 2007 respectively.

Earlier this year, Tucker opened up about feeling as though he hit a ceiling in what he was able to earn from movies after raking in $45 million from the trilogy series. Despite this, it seems the amount wasn’t enough to cover his IRS debt. In the lawsuit, they reportedly wrote:
““Despite notice and demand for payment of the assessments set forth above, Mr. Tucker has neglected, refused, or failed to fully pay the assessments against him.”
With the debt on its own along with tax penalties and interest, the IRS reported that Tucker had accumulated a $9.6 million dollar bill. Following a two year court battle, however, it’s reported that the two agreed on a number much less. The report states that on October 23rd, the entertainer and the IRS agreed that he would only be required to pay back $3.6 million of the alleged money owed.

Originally, the comedian was in talks of paying down the tax debt in installments. It has not been reported, however, if the recent settlement will be a lump sum or on some kind of payment plan.
