‘Married to Medicine’ Star Dr. Jackie Walters Faces Backlash After Resurfaced Comments About Medical Experts Having Trouble Believing Pregnant Black Women Because They ‘Cry Wolf’
Dr. Jackie Walters is in the hot seat.
The Married to Medicine star has sparked controversy following the resurfacing of a three-year-old clip where she suggested that Black women aren’t taken seriously by medical experts because they “cry wolf” and are are more dramatic.
Dr. Jackie Walters said,
“Sometimes as African American women, we’re a bit more dramatic. In that you go the doctor and you complain and you complain and you complain, and you’re not taken seriously ’cause you cried wolf the entire pregnancy.”
She continued,
“As African American women, we want to also make sure you’re being serious with your doctor and not playing the game so I can take you off work. Because then, we see you 25 times in the pregnancy, it’s hard to believe that there’s a true problem when there’s a true problem.”
One Twitter user said,
“Dr.Jackie has never carried a child so who tf is she to say black women can be “dramatic” and “cry wolf” during their pregnancy??????? Knowing black women are overlooked health wise???? She’s been the villain! I can’t stand her tbh”
Another user added,
“So is this not same rhetoric that leads to the black maternal mortality rate?? Dr Jackie what is happening?”

Dr. Jackie Walters‘ comments come ahead of a discussion she will have with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday’s episode of Married to Medicine, which will focus on Black maternal mortality rates.

Former Married to Medicine star Buffie Purselle also slammed Dr. Jackie for her remarks via Instagram. In her caption, she said,
“When are y’all gonna see #drjackie for the #villian that she really is? @bravotv y’all should have asked #drsimone to do that interview about #blackmaternalmortality with #kamalaharris”
