Diddy ‘Voluntarily Dismisses’ Discrimination Lawsuit Against Diageo, Alcohol Company Now Solely Owns DeLeón

Diddy has one less legal issue (and business) on his plate.

According to reports, the music mogul was finally able to reach an understanding with Diageo. As previously reported, Diddy, real name Sean Combs, sued the British alcohol company in May 2023 for alleged racial discrimination. Their business relationship started in 2007 when they joined forces to market the Ciroc Vodka brand, and in 2013 they teamed up again, reportedly becoming equal ownership partners of DeLeón.

However, things eventually turned sour, with Diddy claiming in his lawsuit that Diageo racially profiled and neglected his tequila line, DeLeón Tequila. Diageo wasted no time firing back, arguing in a countersuit that throughout their business relationship, Diddy only “contributed a total of $1,000 and refused to honor his commitments,” while they invested more than $100 million into the brand.

It’s also important to note that after he settled a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend/artist Cassie for alleged sexual abuse and sex trafficking, Diageo filed a motion to have Diddy removed as the face of DeLeón Tequila.

Fast forward to today (Jan. 16) and it seems both parties have amicably agreed to part ways. Reportedly, Diddy has dropped his suit against Diageo and severed all business ties with the company. In a joint statement shared with TMZ, Diddy and Diageo revealed,

“Sean Combs and Diageo have now agreed to resolve all disputes between them. Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice.”

The statement continued,

“Diageo and Mr. Combs have no ongoing business relationship, either with respect to Cîroc vodka or DeLeón tequila, which Diageo now solely owns.”

It’s unclear if Diddy walked away with a financial settlement. You may recall that in his initial lawsuit, he was seeking billions in damages.
