Original Story: (Jan. 18, 2024): Prayers up for Cori Broadus!

The 24-year-old daughter of hip-hop vet Snoop Dogg recently took to her Instagram to express her frustrations about finding out she endured a severe stroke.

Explaining what happened after doctors made her aware of the brain attack, Cori Broadus wrote as a caption over a picture seemingly taken from a hospital bed:

“I had a severe stroke this am I started breaking down crying when they told me”

In a follow up post that pictured her in a pink hoodie and a mask, she added:

“Like I’m only 24 what did I do in my past to deserve all of this”

At this time, no other details about Cori’s hospitalization have been shared. However, the celebrity’s kid has reportedly discussed making changes to her lifestyle recently to help manage her long time battle with lupus. Reportedly, the Choc Factory CEO was diagnosed with the illness at just six years old and has dealt with complications and side effects from it her entire life.

Lupus, in case you’re unfamiliar, is a condition where the immune system attacks its own tissue instead of fighting off infections and diseases as it’s meant to. It can cause pain in the joints and muscles, extreme fatigue, rashes, and headaches. In addition, the disease can contribute to depression and anxiety. As one report notes, Cori explained during a previous interview last September that she was trying more holistic methods to minimize symptoms of the condition which, at the time, she said things seemed to be going well. She reportedly stated:

“I stopped taking all of my medication like five months ago. I’m just doing everything natural, all types of herbs, sea moss, teas”

Adding:

“So now I think my body’s like, okay, this is the new program and she’s getting used to it.”

It’s currently unclear whether or not the adjustments had any correlation to her recent stroke. As we reported back in 2021, Cori also opened up about the mental toll of the condition while spreading mental health awareness. She stated:

“ I grew up with two light-skinned brothers…I was the only chocolate one. I was overweight, I got lupus at six… And that just automatically just messed with my health. I’ve always been sad, I’ve always been depressed, ’cause I feel like I’ve just been through a lot. Like, as far as my sickness and not knowing if it was cancer or if it was lupus and then finding out it was lupus [at six years old].”

She added:

“At 13 I was ready to die. Like, just so sad crying to my mom like ‘Mom, I’m so ugly. Why did you have me? Why do I look like this? Why don’t I look like my brothers? Why?… I hated everything about me.”

However, Cori shared that she has since learned to love her dark skin, which is the inspiration behind her beauty and cosmetics brand Choc Factory. We continue to keep Cori in our thoughts and prayers. and wish her a speedy recovery.
