Gypsy Rose Reveals Why She Deactivated Her Social Media Accounts: It ‘Is Literally A Doorway To Hell’

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is revealing why she deleted her social media profiles.

On Thursday (March 15) Gypsy Rose Blanchard told her TikTok followers that she decided to deactivate her Instagram page after having a thorough discussion with her father, Rob Blanchard. She shared that he gave her some much-needed “guidance.”

In her video post, which has since been deleted, she said,

“That guidance was to show me that real life is something you can touch, something you can feel.”

In addition to confirming that she chose to delete the account for good, Gypsy Rose Blanchard expressed that she does not understand why people seem so intrigued by her personal life.

Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 after serving eight years on a 10-year sentence over the killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Gypsy pleaded guilty second-degree murder in 2016, admitting that she was involved in the murder that was carried out by her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. He was convicted of first-degree murder and received a life sentence.

Blanchard also went on to state that considering all of the scrutiny she has experienced, she has no interest in all of the attention from the public. She declared that in her view, “real life” entails being able to touch someone, as with a warm embrace, not interacting on social media.

The 32-year-old candidly told her followers that despite previously amassing more than 7 million followers on Instagram, that is not something she sees as important. She didn’t shy away from making some scathing remarks about social media, stating,

“Social media is literally a doorway to hell. It’s so crazy. I can’t even wrap my head around what social media is.”

Blanchard added that she thought life would be “simple” after being in prison. She said she thought she’d be just like “the next person,” with the ability to enjoy herself on social media.

Since permanently deleting her Instagram account, Blanchard has established a new one and has made the page private.

The Louisiana native told her TikTok followers,

“I do my best to live my authentic life and what’s real to me, and what’s not real is social media.”
