Teyana Taylor ‘Beyond Thrilled’ To Make Directorial Debut In Upcoming Film ‘Get Lite’ Starring Storm Reid
Teyana Taylor continues to add more accolades to her extensive resume.
The singer and songwriter is slated to make her directorial debut in a movie titled Get Lite, which is currently in development at Paramount Pictures. “Euphoria’s” Storm Reid will star in the film and help produce it with Robyn Simpson through their company, “A Seed & Wings Productions,” as well as Kenya Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society.

The film tells the story of a smart teenager living in New York City whose mundane life takes a turn after meeting and falling for a “charismatic beatmaker” [Storm Reid]. She convinces him to start dancing with her Litefeet team, and he struggles to find his way from a life of education to his newfound passion for dancing.

Teyana Taylor will also serve as the film’s executive producer alongside Coco Gilbert, who will serve as co-producer.

The “Gonna Love Me” singer shared the news to fans on her Instagram on Monday (March 18). In the heartfelt post, she wrote,
“Wow, WON’T HE DO IT??!!! In Jesus name! Stepping into the light of this new journey, I’m beyond thrilled to join with the forces with the incredible @stormreid and the visionary genius that is @kenyabarris, along with my partner @coco_gilbert”
Teyana Taylor added,
“All accolades aside NEW YORK THIS IS FOR YOU!”

Storm Reid also made a post about it on her Instagram. The Atlanta native wrote,
“y’all i’m BEYOND excited for this. cannot wait to create a magic with such incredible people who inspire me. get ready to GET LITE. BIGGEST thank you TO @paramountpics @teyanataylor @kenyabarris”
Taylor left a comment underneath the post, which read,
“So excited for this baby girl!!!”

Recently, Taylor starred in “A Thousand And One.” The drama film about an impoverished single mother and her son in New York City won the Sundance Film Festival’s grand jury prize last year in the U.S. dramatic competition.

As for Reid, she recently won her first Emmy Award for her role as Riley Abel in the sci-fi drama series ‘The Last Of Us.’

After winning the category, Reid gave an emotional acceptance speech to the audience, thanking her family and friends. She shared,
“This is proof you can do anything. I’m just a young girl from Atlanta, Georgia.”
The 20-year-old actor has also been nominated for awards in the past, including an NAACP Award for her breakout role as Meg in 2018’s A Wrinkle In Time.
