Ray J, real name William Ray Norwood Jr., 43, spoke about his marriage ending during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club. After host Jess Hilarious asked him what’s going on in his relationship with Princess Love, 39, he stated:

“Sometimes you reach a peak…and sometimes when you break up, that one is like when you’re depressed about it and can’t think about nothing else…and then the next one it gets easier and it starts to make sense,”

He continued:

“I guess happiness is important…but for me, if my kids are happy, then I don’t care about happiness…a lot of people say you have to be happy for your kids, for sure, and…I feel like I have the power in my hands now, but at the same time, the fact that we made the vow and I’m 100 – I could not be happy and be happy for the kids and just ride it out…I’m willing to not be happy to be around my kids everyday.”

Ray then stated he now understands that some years will be good for a couple and some won’t, and it’s just a matter of navigating whatever season you’re in. Regardless, he said he’s willing to put his happiness on the back burner to keep the two children he shares with Princess – daughter Melody Love, 4, and son Epik Ray, 3, and his family intact. He added in the interview:

“You would die for your kids, but you won’t sacrifice your happiness for them?

If you recall, Princess announced her divorce filing in February of this year following nearly 7 years of marriage. The poker champion wrote that they decided to separate after “much reflection, discussion, and counseling,” adding that the decision was made “thoughtfully and with mutual respect.”

Princess‘ court filing marks the 4th time she and Ray have headed towards divorce. Both of the entertainers initiated separate legal filings to end their marriage in 2020, and the “One Wish” singer filed again in 2021 before calling it off. As far as the recent filing, however, Ray was extremely coy when asked if divorce is actually what he wanted, stating:

“I’m really happy, I’m just happy that I was able to create something…we talk everyday we’re super cool…I just want to protect her…protect the kids…my kids love their mom,”
