50 Cent’s ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Renewed For 5th Season
Good news for fans of the ever-growing Power universe!
Reports state that the franchise’s third installment, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, has officially been green-lit for another season on Starz.
Presently, the Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson-produced crime drama is filming for its 4th season, following season 3’s finale which aired just last month. In case you’re unfamiliar, the show follows the upbringing of Kanan Stark, an original character from Power portrayed by 50 himself, and his rise to becoming a murderous drug lord. It stars MeKai Curtis as young Kanan, as well as Patina Miller as Raquel “Raq” Thomas, London Brown as Marvin Thomas, Malcolm Mays as Lou-Lou Thomas, Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox, and Joey Bada$$ as Unique.

Speaking about the show’s renewal, Starz president of original programming Kathryn Busby reportedly stated:
“We know that our fans can’t get enough of ‘Raising Kanan.’ As the inevitable evolution of this young man into a killer plays out, we knew we had much more backstory to share in this ever-escalating family saga,”

She continued:
“As we continue to expand the storytelling within the ‘Power’ universe, we’re looking forward to how this story may intersect with other Power characters during this prequel era.”
News of Raising Kanan securing another season comes just a couple of weeks after it was announced that the franchise’s second spin-off, Power Book II: Ghost, will end after its 4th season debuts later this year. As we reported, the show’s leading man Michael Rainey Jr. expressed his disappointment at the news and suggested that the cast was near clueless that the series was ending.

However, as Book II is ending, a new prequel spin-off centered around the original leading men of Power, Omari Hardwick as Ghost and Joseph Sikora as Tommy, is in the works. Busby announced the coming series earlier this month, though many details about the show have not yet been shared.

Additionally, Power Book IV: Force, starring Sikora, is still in rotation and is currently filming its third season.
