Buju Banton, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, 50, shared the sad news on Instagram yesterday (April 4th). As a caption alongside a picture of the 20-year-old, the “Champion” artist wrote:
“Sip papa God knows”

At this time there doesn’t seem to be many details shared about the nature of Miles‘ passing. One report notes, however, that his brother Jahazeil Myrie confirmed his death to a news outlet this past Monday (April 1st). He reportedly stated:
“Yes it is true. It is not my thing to say, it is not my job personally to give out any personal information about Miles, my father is the one who should share any details, but Miles is an hortical yute, his soul was clean, so I had to say something.”

The report also notes that Miles was allegedly living in the US at the time of his passing. Amid news of the tragedy, a video surfaced online of a woman claiming to have known Miles and accused Banton and his other children of abandoning the young man while he struggled mentally. She emotionally stated during the video:
“I’ve met this kid…my son brought Miles to my house. Miles lived in my house for two months…that might have been the best 2 months of Miles life…I don’t know the backstory, but he was out in the street homeless…we wasn’t well, he did not look well.”
She continued:
“I decided I would not let him leave the house in the condition that he was in with the stuff that he was carrying.”
The woman then claimed that she called Miles‘ brother, though she didn’t specify which, to tell his family about the young man’s “condition.” After urging the family to pick him up and take him to the hospital, the woman says some of Miles‘ siblings came to get him but did not get him the medical attention he needed as he turned up deceased days later. She added:
“I really thought I was doing the right thing when I released him to them…they knew he had trouble, they knew he had issues.”
It does not appear that Banton nor any of his children have commented any further about Miles‘ death at this time.
