Tiffany Haddish Accuses Officers Involved In Her 2022 DUI Arrest Of An ‘Illegal’ Traffic Stop & ‘Unlawful Search & Seizure’

Update (April 9, 2024): Tiffany Haddish’s criminal trial for her first DUI is moving along. The actress and comedian was initially arrested in Georgia in January 2022. Now, the four officers involved are slated to testify about what happened that night at her upcoming trial.

Before the arrest over two years ago, the Peachtree City Police Department was alerted to a driver sleeping behind the wheel. Officers ultimately pulled over Haddish, alleging that her car matched the description. In the police report obtained by Radar Online, authorities said at the time that Haddish wreaked of marijuana. She was detained for a misdemeanor DUI, driving under the influence of multiple substances, and improper stopping on the roadway.

Haddish’s attorney challenged the stop and said the police did not have

“reasonable articulable suspicion to detain Ms. Haddish.”

They pointed out that the person who called the police about a driver falling asleep said the driver was in a white Chevrolet SUV and appeared to have Florida tags. Her attorney added that officers followed Tiffany Haddish, who was driving a white Ford Explorer, for an entire minute before they pulled her over.

Her attorney also claimed that responding officers

“did not report observing any traffic violations or any less-safe driving during the one minute he observed Ms. Haddish operate her vehicle. Accordingly, the traffic stop was illegal and any evidence derived therefrom must be suppressed.”

They argued that Tiffany Haddish’s arrest and blood test stemmed from an “unlawful search and seizure.”

In December 2023, Haddish was arrested on her second DUI and she agreed to a plea deal. Her charge was lessened to reckless driving.

Update: (Dec. 13, 2023):  According to reports, Tiffany Haddish has officially been hit with her second DUI in less than two years.

As previously reported, in November the actress was found asleep in the driver’s seat of her vehicle following a night of partying in Beverly Hills. When Haddish was discovered the car was still running in the middle of the road as she was allegedly slumped over behind the steering wheel. She was booked for DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. Reportedly, at the time of the incident, she had a .08% BAC.

Today (Dec. 13), following a review by the L.A. District Attorney’s Office, Haddish was formally charged. Unfortunately for the entertainer, this isn’t her first time driving while under the influence. In January of last year, she was arrested in Georgia for the same thing.

The judge of the Georgia case recently banned Haddish from drinking and taking drugs. She must also submit to random drug tests for the time being.

Original Story: (Nov. 24, 2023):

Comedian Tiffany Haddish seems to have had a little too much to drink recently.

Video released earlier today, Friday (November 24th), showed the TV and film star being taken away by police after she was reportedly found asleep behind the wheel of her car.

Reportedly, authorities received a call around 5:45 am that someone appeared to be slumped over in their vehicle while the car was running in the middle of Beverly Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, cops reportedly found Tiffany Haddish in the driver’s seat and put her in handcuffs without incident. The report states that the 43-year-old was given a DUI citation and is expected to be released later today.

Unfortunately, this is the second DUI for the jokester in less than two years. If you recall, the “Night School” star was detained back in January 2022 under nearly the exact same circumstances. At the time, authorities responded to a call about an individual seemingly asleep behind the wheel of a car and found Haddish pulling into an Atlanta neighborhood. She was reportedly booked by Peachtree City PD and given a DUI citation.

As far as what led to her recent incident, Haddish reportedly performed at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood on the night of their 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast. According to her social media account, it seems she may have gone out to celebrate with friends after. The actress posted a live video to her Instagram account, capturing the moment she was denied entry into the Habesha Club in Inglewood.

Within a few moments, however, she gets in before asking someone to point her in the direction of the bar. Haddish was reportedly charged with a DUI and improper stopping on a roadway and has a court date scheduled for December 4th.
