Tiffany Haddish Seemingly Ignored By Shakira As She Chased Singer For A Picture + Social Media Reacts: ‘That Was Such A Pathetic Display’

Comedian Tiffany Haddish seemingly had her sight set on getting a photo-op with Shakira.

In a hilarious now-viral moment, the actress relentlessly chased the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer down in an apparent attempt to secure a picture with the music star.

Video footage captured the moment Tiffany Haddish, 43, spotted the Columbian songstress and made it clear she was going to greet her. The “Girl’s Trip” actress loudly and repeatedly screamed “Shakira, Shakira,” as she followed behind the musician who was moving through an adoring crowd. It’s unclear for certain, but it seems the pop star refused to acknowledge her name being called. Though Haddish was not shy about using her outside voice to get the entertainer’s attention, Shakira, 46, never stopped moving and appeared to be trying to distance herself from the calling.

It appears the funny moment happened sometime during the MTV Video Music Awards, which aired on Tuesday, September 12th. Shakira celebrated winning one of the biggest awards of the evening, taking home the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard” award. The honor is given to artists for their “outstanding contributions” and “profound impact” on music videos and pop culture.

Others who have won the award are; Beyoncé (2014), Kanye West (2015), Madonna (1986), and the King of Pop himself Michael Jackson (1988, prior to the award being renamed after him in 1991). Additionally, the Latin music artist took the stage to give her best choreography to some of the songs that made her famous, including “Whenever, Wherever” and “Objection (Tango).”

It’s no wonder why Haddish seemed unable to get a moment of the singer’s time, as many were stopping to greet Shakira on her big night. The comedy star did make sure to photo-bomb several of her pictures, however, which some internet users perceived as a bit cringe.

As footage of the lack of interaction circulated on the internet, social media users were sure to chime in with their thoughts. While some took the moment lightly, acknowledging that “Tiffany will be Tiffany,” others seemed annoyed by the situation and claimed Shakira likely felt the same way.

Whatever the truth of the matter, Haddish was able to reach her goal in the end. Not only did she get to pose for a picture with Shakira, the two seemingly had a friendly chat right after.

Neither Haddish nor Shakira have commented publicly about the situation at this time.
